A tragic four-car collision claimed two lives on Wednesday afternoon.
El Centro Police responded to the crash at the intersection of First and Main Streets around 1:40 p.m. Initial findings suggest that two of the vehicles involved may have been engaged in illegal street racing at the time of the accident.
One driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while another was transported to El Centro Regional Medical Center, where they later succumbed to their injuries. Authorities took an adult resident of Imperial into custody, booking them into Imperial County Jail.
