Eileen Ferzacca Obituary – Eileen Ferzacca, a 64-year-old resident of Prescott, Arizona, passed away on June 2 while riding her 2007 Harley-Davidson Dyna Low Rider motorcycle in Embudo. According to the crash investigation report by Rio Arriba Sheriff’s Deputy Nicholas Diaz, a tire detached from a trailer and struck Ferzacca while she was on N.M. Highway 68.
Deputy Diaz was alerted to the motor vehicle collision by a woman near Mike’s Mini Mart in Velarde, who informed him of a serious accident ahead. Upon arriving at the scene, he observed a blue pickup truck with a trailer missing a wheel parked in a gravel pull-off area.
At the crash site, Diaz witnessed medical personnel providing assistance to an unconscious and unresponsive Ferzacca. Despite his efforts to find a pulse, he was unsuccessful. The only visible injury was a small cut on her chin that was not actively bleeding.
Following unsuccessful life-saving attempts, medics ceased their efforts, and the Office of the Medical Investigator was contacted. Witness statements revealed that Ferzacca was hit in the head by a trailer wheel/tire that detached from a southbound truck while she was riding her motorcycle northbound on State Road 68 with a group of friends.
After being struck, Ferzacca was thrown from her motorcycle, which continued down the road, eventually hitting a guardrail and coming to a stop. The motorcycle leaked fuel onto the road, prompting a witness to move it to a pull-off area north of the crash site. The motorcycle sustained a scuff mark on the front fork and a small cut on the fuel tank, as noted by Deputy Diaz after speaking with witnesses.
