Edwin Blakeslee Obituary, Death- In Boise, Idaho Edwin Almarian Blakeslee III, known as “Ed” to family and friends, died peacefully in his sleep in Boise, Idaho, on September 16, 2023, his 76th birthday His friends will remember his love, laughter, and service.
Edwin’s 55-year marriage to Dannette demonstrated love’s strength. They inspired everyone with their bond. His children, Edenn (Jared) Jablonski, Edwin IV “Blake” (Heather), and Lange (Talina), and grandchildren, Ellie, Tommy, Asher, Hartlan, and Rowan, survive him. Edwin II’s parents, Dorothy, and sisters, Barbara, Marian (Jack) Burchfield, and Anne (Robert) Frank, died before him. His family will always remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Ed, a Boise State University alumnus, was a Broncos fan in every sense. His enthusiasm for his alma mater was contagious.
In Vietnam, Ed was an Air Force mechanic and crew chief. Aircraft repair and fleet management at government organizations were his civilian specialties. Despite possessing a pilot’s license, Ed often quipped that he was better respected as a mechanic, earning colleagues’ esteem throughout his career.
U.S. Department of the Interior Office of Air Services headquarters aircraft maintenance expert leader Ed retired. Ed worked beyond his profession. His Redeemer Lutheran Church involvement and child sports coaching assisted many young athletes. He showed compassion and service based on his values.
On November 11, 2023, Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2920 Cassia St., Boise, ID 83705, will host an Edwin Blakeslee III memorial service. Instead of flowers, the family requests donations to Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ed’s honor. Ed wants these monies to restore the church’s large stained glass window.
Donations will help him create this window the church’s crowning splendor. The late Edwin Almarian Blakeslee III was a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, and selfless servant of his country and community. We shall always remember his love and laughter, which brightened our lives. Ed, rest in peace. May your humor and kindness inspire us.
