Edward Allen Jarmond Jr Obituary, Death; – On August 22, 2019, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the York City Police received a call regarding a shooting incident at 628 Front Street. Upon arrival, they discovered a deceased individual in a nearby alley on Bare Avenue. The victim had sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was found unclothed, save for his socks.
In close proximity, law enforcement located two shell casings: one from a .40-caliber Smith & Wesson and another from a 9mm Luger. Additionally, a chain and pendants were recovered at the scene. Surveillance footage captured a red Nissan Altima with dark tinted windows departing the area shortly after the gunfire erupted.
The deceased was identified as Edward Allen Jarmond Jr., a resident of the 600 block of Front Street. He was employed at the ES3 warehouse and Excel Home Care, where he also provided care for his grandmother. His obituary highlighted his passion for music as a lyrical artist, as well as his enjoyment of cycling, basketball, swimming, video gaming, and spending quality time with friends and family. He was 27 years old and was known for his willingness to assist others.
For nearly six years, the investigation into his death remained unresolved until police apprehended Shandon Michael Garner on Wednesday, charging him with murder. Garner, a 27-year-old alleged gang member, was arrested following an inquiry into a series of home invasions and another shooting linked to conflicts among street gangs involved in drug trafficking, as detailed in court documents.
The circumstances leading to Jarmond’s death began approximately two to three years prior, when two members of the East End gang separated to establish a new faction known as Addicted To Money (ATM), which subsequently allied with the West Side gang due to shared adversaries, according to the criminal complaint against Garner.
The complaint further indicated that in 2018 and 2019, ATM was embroiled in a rivalry with an East Side group called My Loyal Brothers (MLB). During this conflict, several ATM members were shot.
Among those identified as alleged members of ATM were Garner, Manuel Rivera, Jakeem Woodard, and Anu Johnson. Notably, Anu Johnson had faced homicide charges in connection with the December 2019 shooting death of 21-year-old Andre White at the Regal Cinema but was acquitted the following December after claiming self-defense.
