Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced that on May 24, 2024, Zef Hajdari, 27, of Edgewater, NJ, pled guilty to first-degree robbery in connection with the June 16, 2022, attempted armed robbery of a Teaneck resident. Hajdari is the first co-defendant to plead guilty in this multi-defendant case. The State will recommend a sentence of six years in New Jersey State Prison, with sentencing scheduled for September 13, 2024.
The incident occurred on June 16, 2022, when officers from the Teaneck Police Department responded to a report of an attempted armed robbery. The victim had just arrived at his residence and exited his vehicle when he was confronted by a suspect pointing a firearm at him, demanding his belongings. The victim managed to flee, and the armed suspect, along with another suspect who had been hiding nearby, escaped in a waiting vehicle driven by a third accomplice.
This case highlights the swift and coordinated efforts of law enforcement in responding to and investigating serious criminal activities, ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice.
