Eddie Winters Obituary, Death – A man was discovered dead in a car in Crystal earlier this month, and the charges that were brought on Thursday shed light on the circumstances surrounding the discovery of his body. In addition, the charges provide evidence that a likely motive was behind the victim’s death.
It is alleged by the prosecution that Larondo Willis, who is 37 years old, stabbed the man 19 times because he was enraged by the fact that the man did not provide assistance to a common relative who was murdered in 2022. Willis is now being charged with murder in the second degree, as stated in the criminal complaint that was filed against him.
On March 21, the body of the victim, who was identified by a medical examiner as Eddie Winters, forty years old, was found inside a vehicle at the intersection of 32nd and Hampshire avenues. The location of the vehicle was close to Valley Place Park. The complaint states that on the evening of March 20, Winters and a man whom he referred to as his “cousin” — who was later confirmed to be Willis — met at a barber shop in Minneapolis. Willis was the individual for whom the complaint was filed.
Following that, they departed together in the vehicle that Winters had provided, along with Winters’ child. They went back within a short period after they had dropped the son off at his dwelling if the son was unable to enter the apartment. According to the lawsuit, Willis and Winters were observed leaving the apartment together for the second time, which occurred around twelve hours prior to the discovery of Winters’ death.
On March 21, Willis was brought into custody in connection with an investigation that had nothing to do with them. When the police monitored the position of his smartphone, they found that it had been in the region of Valley Place Park the night before Winters’ body was found. This information was uncovered by the police. Furthermore, it is located near the Robbinsdale Metro Transit station, and surveillance footage from that specific evening reveals that Willis was present at that exact spot.
After receiving a report from a witness who was parked near Valley Place Park on March 20th, law enforcement received the information. According to the testimony of the witness, a man emerged from a portable restroom and approached his vehicle, expressly demanding a ride. After the witness declined to provide any information, the individual left the area. According to the lawsuit, it was determined that the portable restroom had blood on it after the incident had occurred.
Willis was found to be in possession of a butterfly knife at the time that he was detained by the police, as stated in the complaint. The report also stated that his shorts had “a spot of blood like substance on the waistband,” which was a description of the defect. Both Willis and Winters’ families have informed the authorities that they had a cousin who passed away in the year 2022. This information was provided by several members of both families. According to the complaint that was made, “Family members stated that [Winters] was present when the cousin was murdered but fled to save himself instead of helping him,” which is what the complaint stated. “Family members stated that this upset several members of the family, including Willis.” Our team has placed Willis under arrest.
