Born in the picturesque town of Breckenridge, Colorado, Dwight Metcalf’s early years were shaped by the stunning Rocky Mountains. However, fate had other plans for him as his family relocated to Fort Scott, Kansas, during his formative years. It was there that Metcalf’s sense of duty and responsibility blossomed, eventually leading him to enlist in the US Navy after completing high school. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, Metcalf pursued higher education at Emporia Kansas State College, now known as Emporia State University.
