Dwayne Blair Obituary, Death; – An investigation into a fire at an apparently vacant church that resulted in a fatality in early February is now being conducted by the Kansas City police as a homicide case.
On Monday, the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department reported that a 66-year-old man discovered inside the vacant church after an early morning fire on February 1 had sustained a gunshot wound. This information was provided to the police by the medical examiner, leading to the classification of the death as a homicide.
The Kansas City Police Department indicated that officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of Chestnut Avenue at approximately 2:30 a.m. in response to a report from the Kansas City Fire Department. Fire crews had located the deceased individual, later identified as 66-year-old Dwayne Blair, within the premises.
Authorities stated that homicide detectives have made advancements in identifying a person of interest; however, no arrests have been made at this time.
