Dustin Nobles Obituary, Death; – One individual has lost his life, and an 18-year-old male is currently in custody following a shooting incident that occurred on Sunday in a driveway located in Bruceville-Eddy.
The event transpired around noon on Sunday in the 1300 block of Old Moody Road. Authorities received the emergency call at 12:27 p.m., prompting a response from officers of Bruceville-Eddy, Lorena, and Moody, along with deputies from the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office.
The deceased victim, identified as 38-year-old Dustin Nobles, was discovered at the scene suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. According to an arrest affidavit, the victim was in the process of changing a tire on his vehicle in the driveway at the time of the incident.
The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Brandon Michael Davis, was reported by witnesses to have been extremely agitated by the victim’s presence, citing prior conflicts between the two. The victim reportedly indicated that he would need approximately thirty minutes to complete the tire change, while witnesses recounted the suspect demanding that he finish within ten minutes.
One witness, identified in the arrest affidavit as the suspect’s grandfather, recounted that an argument ensued in the driveway, during which the grandson exited with a .22 rifle and repeatedly instructed the victim to leave immediately.
Witnesses reported hearing a gunshot, with one individual stating he refrained from performing CPR due to uncertainty about how to address a gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel were unable to revive the victim upon their arrival, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The affidavit indicated that law enforcement recovered a rifle from the suspect’s bedroom and a single .22 caliber shell casing from the driveway. It was noted that the victim had been engaged in work on his vehicle, with the front passenger side wheel removed and the car elevated on a jack.
The affidavit further detailed that the suspect was interviewed by officers at the jail, during which he claimed the victim approached him in an aggressive manner, with his hands clenched into fists, and asserted that he was unarmed. The suspect stated that the victim was shot as he advanced toward him.
