Duane Andrew Strong Drowning Death: Law enforcement agencies have identified the man who passed away in a drowning accident at Lake Norman. Authorities said 64-year-old Duane Andrew Strong died after he jumped into the lake from a moving yacht. Duane Andrew Strong was a dedicated husband to Angela Duane.
The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission reported a drowning on Saturday morning around markers R1 and R2, close to Bell Island Drive. Officials claimed Duane Andrew Strong, 64, jumped off a moving sailboat to go swimming but struggled. Those who remained on the boat attempted to aid but were unsuccessful. Officials claimed Strong was not wearing a life jacket. The Cornelius Fire Department retrieved his body that night.
The victim who drowned in Lake Norman off Belle Isle on Saturday was named Duane Andrew Strong. According to North Carolina Wildlife, he wasn’t wearing a life jacket. At 10:21 a.m. on Saturday, a 911 call was issued regarding a drowning on Lake Norman near the R1 Marker. The nearest address was at the end of Belle Isle Drive in Cornelius.
Drowning happened between Belle Isle and the power plant. The Cornelius Fire Department retrieved the body at about 6:10 p.m. near the scene of the incident. The Huntersville Volunteer Fire Department, together with the Denver Fire Department, Sherrills Ford – Terrell Fire & Rescue, Iredell County Sheriff, and Cornelius Police, took part in the seven-hour search.
Duane Andrew Strong worked at Acts Retirement-Life Communities. He was a graduate of Carman and the University of Michigan. He lived in Lives in Charlotte, North Carolina with his wife Angela. The couple were from Flint, Michigan.
