Duane Allen Obituary, Death – Norah Lee Allen, who is the wife of lead vocalist Duane Allen, died at 7:28 am CT on Sunday morning, March 31st, following a long illness. The Oak Ridge Boys are in mourning. Norah Lee’s age was seventy-six. During the day on Sunday, Duane sent this message to his closest friends: My 54-year-and-8-month-old wife drew her last breath on Earth this morning.
On Easter morning, at 7:28 a.m., Norah Lee came to rest with Jesus. For a while now, she had been indisposed. Last night, her whole family stayed at Vanderbilt Hospital to be at her side. God granted us the gift of time with her, and we made the most of it by singing to her, telling her tales, and loving her deeply. Your prayers and support mean the world to Jamie, Dee, and me. For over nine weeks, we have remained at her side while she has slept.
Donna, Ashley, Ginger, GiGi, and Mindy helped out by staying with her for a few nights, and we’re so grateful to them. We are grateful to the medical professionals that went above and beyond to assist Norah Lee, including the physicians, nurses, and specialized personnel. For more information on the plans, see my Facebook page at a later time. Our desired visiting and service location is First Baptist Church in Hendersonville, Tennessee, and it is scheduled for Tuesday, April 2.
For more than four decades, Norah Lee brought an air of refined professionalism, an awe-inspiring voice, and the Grand Ole Opry stage to life. When it came to country music’s grandest stages, Norah Lee was an integral cog in a wheel of gifted vocalists that backed up some of the business’s most legendary acts. Bowling Green, Kentucky was the birthplace of Norah Lee and her sisters, who joined their father’s musical trio, The Stuart Sisters Trio, when Norah was only three years old.
The family gospel group played at revivals, concerts, conferences, and churches all across the southeastern United States for over seventeen years. Norah Lee completed her high school education at Warren County in 1966. Norah Lee was recruited by the famous Chuck Wagon Gang in 1968. Their flawless pitch harmonies and faith-based songs were hallmarks of the critically renowned country gospel music group’s sound. It was a great stepping stone for Norah Lee’s career in music.
Norah Lee wed Oak Ridge Boys lead singer Duane Allen on September 22, 1969. Norah Lee was an employee of Benson Publishing Group in Nashville during the early 1970s. There she took on a variety of tasks, from secretarial duties to singing background vocals on studio recordings. News of Norah Lee’s remarkable singing voice quickly circulated across Nashville. Many performers, including Conway Twitty and Grand Ole Opry bass icon Jerome Hines, recommended her for background session work with country, bluegrass, and gospel bands because to her extraordinary flexibility.
