Dravin Flick,Blaize Switzer Obituary, Death; – Two young boys tragically lost their lives in a house fire in Janesville early Friday morning.
Newschain interviewed Chief Kevin Rankin of the Lincoln Fire Protection District, who reported that emergency services were dispatched to the 100 block of E. Adams at approximately 3:30 a.m. due to a fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the residence completely engulfed in flames. Chief Rankin confirmed that 7-year-old Dravin Flick and 11-year-old Blaize Switzer were located upstairs during the incident and did not survive. Their parents were asleep on the ground floor and were awakened by the smoke and fire.
The parents managed to escape through a window but were unable to access the front door to reach their children. They attempted to use a ladder to access the boys’ bedrooms but were thwarted by the intense flames.
The fire resulted in the total destruction of the home, and the cause is currently under investigation. Janesville is a small unincorporated community spanning Coles and Cumberland Counties. Newschain will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates both on-air and online.
