Dr. Steven Houser Obituary, Death – Dr. Steven E. Houser, 57, Superintendent of the Annville-Cleona School District, passed away on January 10, 2016, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lebanon on February 18, 1958, he was the son of Doris M. Brandt Kohr and step-father Elmer Kohr of Lebanon, as well as his father Ronald R. Houser and his companion Carol Heister of Bethel.
Dr. Houser’s educational journey was marked by significant achievements. He graduated in 1976 from the Cornwall-Lebanon School District, earned his BS in Elementary Education from Millersville State College with Cum Laude honors in 1980, obtained a Master’s Degree in Counselors Education from Millersville University in 1984, and finally completed his Doctor of Educational Administration from Temple University in 1997.
He began his tenure as the Superintendent of the Annville-Cleona School District in July 2010, bringing his expertise to other districts like Susquehanna Township, Elizabethtown, and Lebanon School District during his career. Dr. Houser was actively involved in professional organizations such as the PA Association of School Administrators, Association for Curriculum and Development, PA Association of School Business Officials, and the Pennsylvania School Board Association.
In the community, he dedicated his time to various organizations including the Dutchmen Education Foundation, Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce, Palmyra Rotary Club, Salvation Army, Lebanon County Christian Ministries, and the Boy Scouts of America. Dr. Houser is survived by his parents, daughter Angela M. Santiago-Rios of Lebanon, son Joseph S. Houser and Fiancé Emily S. Khoury of San Diego, CA, brother Scott E. husband of Catherine Houser of Annville, and three cherished grandchildren: Lida, Eliana, and Ezekiel Santiago-Rios.
