Dr John McDougall Obituary, Renowned Plant-Based Physician has died; With great sadness, we announce the passing of Dr. John McDougall. A visionary physician, acclaimed author, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, mentor, and friend, Dr. McDougall peacefully passed away at his home on Saturday, June 22nd, at the age of 77.
Dr. McDougall touched countless lives through his groundbreaking work in promoting a plant-based diet for health and healing. Many, like myself, owe him a debt of gratitude for his transformative impact. I first met Dr. McDougall at a conference in the early 80s, where he, alongside his wife Mary, shared their wisdom and kindness. It was Dr. McDougall who profoundly changed my life. Suffering from severe ear infections and strep throat from a young age, I had been in and out of hospitals until Dr. McDougall suggested giving up dairy. Despite already being vegetarian, I had clung to dairy. Upon his advice, I eliminated it, and since then, I have been free from those agonizing infections.
I fondly remember dining at his and Mary’s vegan restaurant in Santa Rosa, where their warmth and compassion shone through in every dish. Over the years, I reached out to Dr. McDougall, and he was always there, ready to offer guidance and support. His dedication to his patients and the wider community was unwavering, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
As we mourn his loss, we celebrate Dr. McDougall’s life and the incredible impact he had on so many. His memory will live on through the countless lives he touched and the enduring principles he stood for. Dr. McDougall leaves behind a legacy of compassion, healing, and a commitment to improving lives through his pioneering approach to medicine and nutrition.
