Doris Frey Obituary – Doris Ann Frey, who had lived in Herrin all her life and had reached the age of 77 when she passed away, was a resident of Herrin and passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024. Doris worked as a Registered Nurse in three different hospitals: the V.A. Medical Center in Marion, the Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, and the Herrin Hospital in Herrin. All three of these facilities are located, respectively. For a total of forty-five years, she was employed.
Doris was a member of the Missouri Baptist Hospital Nursing Alumni in addition to being a member of the Women of Compassion Support Group for the Baptist Children’s Home and Angels Care. Both of these organizations are dedicated to providing assistance to those in need. At the same time that she was a poet who had been published through the Illinois Poets Society, she was also a member of the Herrin Area Historical Society.
As a member of the congregation at the Whiteash Freewill Baptist Church in Marion, Illinois, Doris visited the church on a regular basis. As the daughter of Lola E. Grant, Doris Grant was born on May 12th, 1946. Her mother’s name was Lola E. Grant. On May 11, 1990, Gary G. Frey and Doris Frey exchanged their vows within the confines of Paducah, Kentucky. It was on November 21st, 2010, that he went away before she did during the year 2010.
Her countless cousins are the ones who will carry on her legacy once she is gone. She was preceded in death by her husband, as well as by her mother and her grandmother, Mamie (Sanders) Grant. Her spouse was also the second person to pass away. The cremation of Doris will take place in line with her wishes; a memorial ceremony will be performed at the cemetery on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Fountain Cemetery in Marion, Illinois, with Reverend Andy Lee serving as the officiant. Doris’s cremation will take place. At the burial, envelopes will be distributed to individuals who wish to make memorial contributions to the Baptist Children’s Home and Family Services.
