Donald Charles Harwood – A motor vehicle accident in Gaffney has resulted in a fatality. The crash occurred just before 7:00 p.m. on July 10, as reported by officials in Cherokee County. According to the official report, a northbound tractor-trailer on Interstate 85 collided within a construction zone near mile marker 96. The driver of the Nissan, 73-year-old Donald Charles Harwood, was trapped in his vehicle and required extrication by firefighters. Unfortunately, despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Both tractor-trailer drivers sustained injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently investigating the incident.
