Donald Britten Jr Death; – A woman who has consistently asserted her innocence in the 2023 death of her husband has now entered a guilty plea to one of the two homicide-related charges against her, as indicated by Wisconsin court records. Mary Terry, who was accused of fatally running over her husband on October 19, 2023, pleaded guilty to homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle, according to the court documents. In exchange for her plea, the charge of first-degree intentional homicide was dismissed.
Law enforcement in Laona responded to a residential area around 9 p.m. following a report of a man lying in the street, as detailed in a criminal complaint. A caller had dialed 911, and upon arrival, deputies found Terry standing over the victim, later identified as her husband, Donald Britten Jr. When questioned by a responding deputy, Terry inquired, “Is he dead?” The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, with preliminary findings indicating that the cause of death was “blunt force trauma caused by compression.”
Terry, aged 50, claimed that her husband had been struck by a vehicle but stated that she was unaware of who was responsible, according to authorities. Upon inspecting her truck at her nearby residence, deputies discovered damage to the driver’s side bumper, headlight, and rear box panel.
Terry mentioned that Britten had been the last person to operate her truck and noted that they had been involved in an argument prior to the incident, as per the complaint. She recounted looking out her window after being dropped off by her husband and observing the truck parked nearby, still running, which she then drove back to her home to retrieve her phone, asserting that she did not see Britten’s body.
When Terry returned to the site where her truck was located, the 911 caller was found standing next to her husband’s deceased body, according to authorities. Despite having a Blood Alcohol Concentration of .298, Terry denied any involvement in her husband’s death, as recorded in court documents. Evidence collected at the scene indicated that Britten had been dragged a distance of 48 feet, with his injuries aligning with the damage observed on the truck.
