Divine Calloway Death– According to reports from the Rochester police department, Calloway, who is from Rochester, was hit by multiple gunshots. According to Umbrino, the investigators believe that Calloway was involved in a confrontation with another individual that resulted in him being shot in the torso as well as the lower body. Calloway was discovered by the officers walking down the street. According to Umbrino, he was sent to Strong Memorial Hospital, but he did not survive long after he arrived there.
There have been no criminal charges brought forward in relation with the incident. According to the Open Data Portal maintained by the Rochester Police Department (RPD), the murder was Rochester’s 33rd homicide of the year and its fourth fatal gunshot in the preceding week. The police have stated that they would not release any additional information regarding the incident. Superintendent Carmine Peluso of the Rochester City School District stated that Calloway had only recently graduated from the Wilson Magnet High School.
Peluso stated that “once again an unfathomable act of violence has affected our community as a whole.” “As we come together to show support for our students, as well as Divine’s friends and teammates, I can’t help but wonder how much more of the future of this city will be lost as a result of the senseless and selfish violence that occurs in our streets. I want Divine’s family to know that I am thinking of them and sending my deepest sympathies
The statement that “He mattered and will not be forgotten” was made by Peluso. The Rochester Public Market, which was closed at the time of the incident, is located one block to the northeast of the intersection of Second Street and Central Park.
