Diego Arriaza, Yeraldin Pardo Death – The Fairfax County Police Department has identified the individuals who lost their lives in a tragic incident involving a train on June 5th. Diego Arriaza, aged 28 and from Annandale, along with Yeraldin Pardo, aged 28 from Lincolnia, and her 8-year-old child were on the elevated train tracks at Lake Accotink Park just before 8:30 p.m. when they were struck by a northbound Norfolk Southern freight train.
It is believed by detectives that Arriaza was hit by the train, while Pardo and the child fell from the bridge. Unfortunately, all three victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives have ruled out speed and alcohol as factors in the crash for the train engineer. However, they are currently investigating whether alcohol played a role in the crash for the pedestrians involved.
