Diante Trimm Obituary, – Diante Trimm, a 37-year-old mother of five, has been identified by the police as the victim of the most recent fatal shooting. Although the murder has been described as a “targeted attack,” the police have not yet confirmed whether Ms. Trimm was the intended target.
Chief Inspector Derricka Burns stated that the detectives involved in the investigation are still in the process of gathering information and evidence to determine the identity of the perpetrator and the motive behind the crime. According to Mr. Burns, the shooting took place inside Ms. Trimm’s home on South Terrace, Pembroke, at approximately 12:35 am on Friday.
Despite immediate medical intervention by police officers and emergency technicians, Ms. Trimm unfortunately succumbed to her injuries at the hospital, as stated by Ms. Burns. “This incident marks the second murder in Bermuda this year, but it is the first death resulting from gun violence,” Ms. Burns added.
The Serious Crime Unit detectives are actively pursuing all leads and are appealing to the public for any information that could aid in the investigation. “We urge anyone who may have witnessed anything unusual or who may possess additional information to come forward. The cooperation of the public is crucial in solving this case and bringing the responsible individuals to justice,” Ms. Burns emphasized.
She also expressed her deep distress over the crime and assured that the police are working tirelessly to gather all the necessary facts. Ms. Burns confirmed that no arrests have been made thus far, but efforts have been made to obtain CCTV footage. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Antoine Daniels, stated that even one firearms incident is one too many. He described Ms. Trimm as a young woman who was tragically killed in the prime of her life.
“She was a mother who leaves behind five children and was callously shot and killed within the confines of her own home, a place where all of us should feel safe and secure,” he lamented. “Unfortunately, this is the ninth female to be murdered in Bermuda since 2008, and the second one involving the use of a firearm since 2020,” Mr. Daniels added. He further emphasized the need for additional efforts to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
