Derek Michael Harmon,Kerrie Schneider Obituary, Death; – Two individuals who lost their lives in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 26/93 on Tuesday have been named.
The Lincoln County Coroner’s Office reported that Derek Michael Harmon, 55, from Idaho Falls, succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident. He was initially transported by ground ambulance to meet Magic Valley paramedics but unfortunately passed away during transit.
The Blaine County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Kerrie Schneider, 62, from Kuna, also perished in the incident. The collision occurred shortly after 3 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blaine County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with Idaho State Police, responded to the two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 26/93, located east of Fishcreek Reservoir Road in Carey.
According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation revealed that Harmon was driving southbound in a silver 2014 Chevrolet Silverado. For reasons yet to be determined, the vehicle crossed the center line into oncoming traffic, resulting in a head-on collision with a blue 2021 Toyota 4Runner, operated by Schneider, who had a 38-year-old passenger, as stated in a news release.
Both drivers sustained fatal injuries from the crash, as reported by officials. The female passenger was airlifted to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello with serious injuries, and her identity has not been disclosed. Authorities confirmed that all individuals involved were wearing seatbelts.
