Deonte John Brown Obituary, Death; – The Kern County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of a 23-year-old passenger who lost his life in a crash suspected to involve alcohol on Ming Avenue on New Year’s Day.
The deceased passenger has been identified as Deonte John Brown, 23, from Bakersfield. The incident occurred at approximately 1:10 a.m. in the vicinity of Ming Avenue and Westholme Boulevard.
Police reports indicate that there were four individuals in the vehicle, comprising two men and two women. Brown was declared dead at the scene, while the other occupants were transported to a hospital for treatment.
A court document reveals that the driver claimed a passenger in the vehicle interfered by grabbing the steering wheel, resulting in a loss of control. The case is currently being forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for potential charges.
According to a warrant submitted in Superior Court, the driver stated that a passenger “grabbed the steering wheel from the rear of the vehicle.” The identities of both the driver and the passenger who allegedly seized the steering wheel have not yet been disclosed.
