Dennis Rumble Obituary, Death; – Four individuals have been charged with the murder of a 17-year-old boy in Oakland on April 21. The suspects have been identified as Jamareae Perry, 25, from Oakland, Darryl Deloney Jr., 28, from Sacramento, Dawon Carter, 29, from Vallejo, and Dewayne Carter, 31, whose city of residence is unknown. They have been charged with the murder of Dennis Rumble and possession of firearms as felons.
According to authorities, Rumble was shot and killed outside a gas station on Edes Avenue in East Oakland during a gathering of cars and people. Surveillance footage revealed that a fight broke out, and five individuals, some armed with handguns and at least one with a rifle, pointed and shot at Rumble shortly after.
The four suspects were identified based on the surveillance footage. Two other individuals were initially arrested but were later released without charge. Police suspect that Dewayne Carter was involved in the earlier shooting of Rumble at a Burger King on Hegenberger Road, but he has not been charged in connection with that incident.
Dawon Carter had been released from prison five months prior to Rumble’s death. He had served time for an attempted murder case stemming from a 2009 robbery and shooting when he was 14 years old. Carter was initially sentenced as an adult but was later re-sentenced as a juvenile and released from prison in November. In a YouTube video posted shortly after Rumble’s death, Carter reflects on his time in prison, his enrollment in college after release, and how he has become a “better person” after incarceration. Carter expresses gratitude for being alive and considers it a blessing.
