Denise Shumaker Obituary, Death; – A senior woman has lost her life due to a fire that occurred in rural Ashmore over the weekend.
Ed Schniers, the Coles County Coroner, confirmed to WCIA that the incident on Saturday led to the death of a 72-year-old woman. The fire took place on Arrowhead Road, situated approximately midway between downtown Ashmore and Charleston.
Schniers has identified the deceased as Denise Shumaker. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death is currently underway, with an autopsy scheduled for Tuesday.
