A delivery driver was shot and critically injured late Monday morning in the Walgreens parking lot at the intersection of Kings Highway and Line Avenue, leading to a temporary lockdown of nearby C.E. Byrd High School.
The Shreveport Police Department (SPD) reported that officers responded to the scene around 10:20 a.m. after the Caddo 911 Communications Department received reports of a man suffering from gunshot wounds.
Upon arrival, officers found the injured man outside the business. Emergency medical personnel provided life-saving treatment before transporting him to Ochsner Health Hospital. His identity and current condition have not been disclosed.
As a precaution, C.E. Byrd High School was briefly placed on lockdown to ensure the safety of students and staff. The lockdown was lifted shortly after.
Fourteen SPD units were deployed to secure the area and begin an investigation. Crime scene investigators are processing evidence and collecting witness statements.
No suspect information has been released, and the circumstances of the shooting are still under investigation.
