Delbert Kevin Oldfield Obituary, Death; – A man from Baldwin City lost his life on Wednesday evening due to a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 35 in Johnson County. The Kansas Highway Patrol has identified the victim as 61-year-old Delbert Kevin Oldfield.
As reported by KHP, Oldfield was traveling northbound on I-35, approximately half a mile south of 75th Street, at a high speed shortly before 8 p.m. In an attempt to avoid colliding with another vehicle, he swerved to the left, which caused him to veer off the road and collide with the median barrier wall. His vehicle, a 2012 Audi A6, rode along the barrier before returning to the interstate, where it spun around and came to a stop facing backward in a traffic lane.
Firefighters and paramedics performed extrication and promptly initiated CPR on Oldfield, which continued during transport in the ambulance, as per dispatch reports. He was subsequently taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
