Death; Virginia Thomas, 61, North East Has Passed Away From A Car accident on Route 40 at Wells Camp Road.: Two persons were killed in a crash on Sunday night on Route 40 at Wells Camp Road, and the Maryland State Police are currently looking into the incident. One of the deceased’s identities was withheld on Monday until their next of kin was notified. Virginia Thomas, 61, of North East, was identified as the second victim by police from the North East barrack.
The accident report states that Thomas was a passenger in a Toyota Camry that was going on Route 40 at approximately 9 p.m. on Sunday. The two vehicles collided as Mark Thomas, 54, of North East, who was driving a westbound Camry, made a left turn toward Wells Camp. For treatment, Mark Thomas was airlifted to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.
Virginia Thomas was transported by air to Shock Trauma, where she succumbed to her wounds. According to authorities, a woman in the BMW also passed away. She was riding along in the vehicle with Elkton native Antunez Darling, 28. Darling was brought to receive medical care at ChristianaCare. According to MSP, personnel from the Maryland Department of Transportation and the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office helped with the accident scene cleanup and investigation.
