Death; James Comerford, 56, Virden, Has Passed Away From A motorcycle Accident: A Virden motorcycle rider lost their life on Saturday in Sangamon County after colliding with a pickup vehicle. James Comerford, 56, was struck by Hernandez M. Guerrero, 27, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, at roughly 3:30 p.m. when he was riding a Harley Davidson V-Rod eastbound on Illinois 104, approaching the Waverly Road intersection, according to an Illinois State Police summary.
Guerrero was traveling on Waverly Road northward. Talkington Township is the location of the collision. A Springfield woman has been charged with DUI while the coroner has identified the crash victim.
According to Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon, Comerford was declared deceased on the spot. Monday was set aside for the autopsy, according to Allmon. On Saturday, the roadway was closed for many hours in order to repair and clean up after crashes. Guerrero did not report any injuries at the scene of the collision, according to ISP. According to ISP, Guerrero received citations for failing to stop at an intersection and failing to slow down in order to prevent a collision. The coroner’s office and ISP are still looking into the death.
