Jacob Vincent Therrien of Barrie, Ontario, has sadly died. Jacob Therrien passed away unexpectedly on November 7, 2024, when he was 22 years old. In addition to being a cherished son, grandson, brother, nephew, and friend, Jacob’s upbeat personality left an unforgettable impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was a dedicated man who was devoted to following the route that his forefathers had paved for him. He was a talented and creative individual who was passionate about his culture. Jacob used his time in a spiritual manner by singing his Ojibwe songs, playing the drums, and beading. The outdoors were Jacob’s favorite place to be, and he found comfort and quiet there. He maintained a strong connection to his background, honoring and respecting the stories and customs that had been passed down through his family history.
Jacob carried his spirit name, Miskwaa Miigwan, which means “Standing Red Feather,” with a sense of pride and purpose. He was proud of his Mi’kmaq and Ojibwe lineage. He had a gentle spirit, a sensitive and warm-hearted personality, and he was always ready to cheer others up with his humor and kindness. He had a gentle spirit. Each and every room that Jacob entered was filled with his grin and kindness, which brought joy to his family, friends, and the community as a whole.
Jacob’s family and friends will be invited to participate in a traditional ceremony that will be held in his memory. The purpose of the celebration is to celebrate his life, discuss recollections, and pay tribute to his spirit. By way of an alternative to sending flowers, the family respectfully begs that donations be sent to organizations that support Indigenous youngsters. This was a cause that Jacob was very passionate about.
