As a motor transport mechanic, he played a crucial role, spending the next three months on the beach tirelessly fixing vehicles while under constant attack from German forces.
David’s valor didn’t end at Normandy; he went on to serve with distinction at the Battle of the Bulge, one of the most critical engagements of World War II. He joined the armed forces at the young age of 18 and served from 1942 until the end of the war, demonstrating remarkable courage and dedication throughout his service. In recognition of his contributions both during and after the war, David was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2012.
This honor was bestowed upon him for his extensive work with ex-service organizations and charities in Greater Manchester.
