David Rick Garrard Obituary, Death;- The individual who drove the wrong way and was killed in a head-on collision on I-15 has been named. Around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, 72-year-old David Rick Garrard from Salt Lake City entered westbound I-80 in the incorrect direction.
He continued to drive against traffic, eventually merging onto northbound I-15 while still heading south. Near 700 South on I-15, he sideswiped a Hyundai before crashing head-on into an Audi. Garrard was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Audi driver was taken to a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. The Hyundai driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital in a private vehicle. Northbound I-15 remained closed for several hours as authorities conducted their investigation.
