David Oldfield Obituary, Death- Our hearts are heavy as we gather to mourn the loss of David Oldfield and celebrate his life. We regret to inform you of his passing on August 25th, which occurred in the peaceful setting of Meiringspoort next to De Rust. He was a man of tremendous charm, intelligence, and affection, and his influence was felt long after his passing.
David was larger than life; his presence was felt and his voice could not be ignored. His infectious energy and humor had a way of filling any space he entered. His mere presence exuded an inviting warmth that pulled people to him, and he left indelible imprints on their minds and emotions. David’s cheeky gleam in his eye was evidence of his infectious enthusiasm and strong will. But two years ago, tragedy overtook David’s life when his beloved son Tyrone made the decision to end his own life.
David’s heart ached under the weight of this tragedy, and he fought valiantly to find his way through the ensuing gloom. The weight of his sorrow and the crushing disappointments that followed were too much for him to take, no matter how hard he tried. David, the gentle giant who had carried so much, decided to give up his stoop on that fateful August day. Wishing him the serenity and comfort that evaded him in life on his journey beyond this world. Let us remember him for the wars he waged, both those that were obvious and those that were not.
David fully grasped the magnitude of the affection showered upon him. The outpouring of love and support from loved ones shows how many people’s lives he touched. Through his joys and sorrows, his successes and failures, he demonstrated the common humanity we all share. His legacy is one of perseverance, of being oneself without apology, and of the unwavering strength of love. As we say our final goodbyes to David, we want to express how thankful we are to have had the chance to get to know him and experience his incredible character firsthand.
The love we have for one another, the memories of how much we laughed together, and the stories we tell will keep his memory alive.
Our condolences go out to Wendy, his sister, and all of his other loved ones during this difficult time. David, you have finally found peace and can rest with your much cherished son. Your time on Earth may be over, but you will always be in our hearts.
