David Martinez Obituary, – The man who was hit and killed by an Amarillo police car on Friday night has been identified by DPS officials. According to DPS, a patrol car from the Amarillo Police Department was heading north on Soncy Road in response to a major crash at 45th and Soncy.
Officials state that, for reasons unknown, the man crossed Soncy Road without using a crosswalk in an unlit area, moving from west to east. DPS reports that the driver of the patrol car did not see the man on the road until it was too late and collided with him at the scene. The man has been identified as David Martinez, a 30-year-old from Canyon, TX. Martinez was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to the injuries sustained in the crash. The investigation into this incident is still ongoing.
