David Huff Arrested; – A 43-year-old man is under suspicion for the murder of a woman with whom he had a romantic relationship, as well as an 11-year-old boy, late on Monday, according to Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick’s statement on Tuesday.
The deceased individuals, a 33-year-old woman and an 11-year-old boy, were found shot in a residence located in the 100 block of Roney Road in Syracuse on Monday night, as reported in an early Tuesday morning news release by Kieran Coffey, a spokesperson for the Syracuse Police Department. Police were dispatched to 128 Roney Road, based on communications from the Onondaga County 911 Center.
Authorities are actively searching for David Huff in connection with these homicides, Coffey stated. Huff is described as a white male, standing 5 feet 6 inches tall, with brown hair and a beard.
Fitzpatrick confirmed that the woman was in a romantic relationship with Huff. Law enforcement conducted an extensive search throughout Onondaga County from Monday night into Tuesday morning for Huff.
The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office utilized Air 1, their helicopter, to aid in the search efforts. The helicopter surveyed various areas, including North Syracuse, where it is believed Huff may have escaped, as noted by Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Tom Newton on Tuesday. The helicopter is no longer active in the search as of Tuesday morning, Newton added.
A significant police presence has been maintained in the vicinity of Roney Road since the previous night. Authorities urge anyone with information regarding Huff or the incident to contact them at 315-442-5222.
