Daniel Negrete Obituary, Death; – A man was fatally shot by his son during a domestic altercation with his wife on Saturday night in East Chicago, Indiana, as reported by law enforcement officials. The incident occurred at approximately 7 p.m. in the 1800 block of East 140th Street.
According to police, officers were dispatched to the location following reports of gunfire within a second-floor rear apartment. Upon arrival, they discovered a man lying on his back in a pool of blood on the living room floor. He was unresponsive and appeared to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the chest.
Officers administered CPR until emergency medical personnel arrived, who transported the victim, later identified by the Lake County Coroner’s Office as 45-year-old Daniel Negrete, to St. Catherine Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The Lake County Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force has been assigned to investigate the case, with initial findings suggesting that the shooting may have been an act of self-defense, based on statements from witnesses.
Witnesses reported that the victim was engaged in a heated argument that escalated into a physical confrontation with his wife when he attempted to retrieve a weapon.
