Daniel Cameron Wagoner Obituary – An investigation is currently underway by the police following the death of a man who was struck by a train in Burlington. The Elon Police Department contacted the Burlington police on Thursday at approximately 8 p.m. to report the incident, which occurred within the city limits of Burlington. The crash took place on the railroad west of York Road towards Oak Avenue.
The victim has been identified as Daniel Cameron Wagoner, a 47-year-old resident of Burlington. According to initial reports, Wagoner was walking east on the tracks when the train, traveling in the opposite direction, collided with him. The train was traveling below its designated speed and attempted to warn Wagoner by sounding its horn. Unfortunately, Wagoner was pronounced dead at the scene. As a result of the incident, the railway was closed for approximately three hours.
