Dale Sykes Obituary, Death; – An inquest has been initiated regarding the death of a man whose remains were discovered at the base of Malham Cove in North Yorkshire. Dale Sykes, aged 37 and hailing from Bradford, was found deceased at the cove in the Yorkshire Dales on Wednesday, December 11, of the previous year.
An attending paramedic confirmed that he had died at the scene, as revealed during the inquest. Senior North Yorkshire coroner Jon Heath noted that Mr. Sykes had sustained a head injury and had succumbed to multiple injuries.
Identification of Mr. Sykes was made by his mother. The coroner, Mr. Heath, subsequently adjourned the inquest proceedings. It was previously reported that volunteers from the Cave Rescue Organisation provided assistance at the scene on December 11.
Last month, the Cave Rescue Organisation released a brief statement indicating that their members had aided in the evacuation after a member of the public discovered an individual at the foot of the cove. Malham Cove is a limestone cliff formation that rises approximately 70 meters, or around 230 feet, in height.
