A single car collision in Slippery Rock Township shortly after midnight on Saturday morning claimed the lives of a dad and his two children, critically hurting a third. According to a report from the Lawrence County Coroner’s office, both the driver, Nathan Bogacki, 44, of Perry Township, and his 13-year-old son Grant Bogacki, were ejected from the Nissan Armada SUV they were traveling in and were pronounced dead at the site.
Emma Bogacki, a 17-year-old family member, was found locked inside the SUV and was declared deceased on the spot. After first responders freed the 10-year-old girl from the car, she was transported by ambulance to a nearby landing zone and then airlifted to UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, where her condition was last reported to be critical but stable.
Around 12:26 p.m., an accident happened on Route 65 in Slippery Rock Township close to Hogue Road. Bogacki was driving the SUV south at a high speed when he crossed the center line into the northbound lane, struck two phone poles, shearing one off, then continued through a yard and struck a car that was parked in a driveway, causing it to overturn, according to reports from the state police and the coroner’s office in Lawrence County.
After that, the SUV took off and struck many trees, climbing one by around 20 feet. The parked car was then crushed by the falling tree. Coroner Richard “R.J.” Johnson stated that blunt force trauma affected all three of the deceased victims.
The accident’s circumstances are being looked into by the state police and the coroner’s office. Johnson claimed that speed played a role. At the incident, the Shenango Area Fire District, Wayne Township, Ellwood City, and many ambulances provided assistance.
