MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A significant update in the case of missing Cornelius girl, Madalina Cojocari, came to a close as her mother, Diana Cojocari, and stepfather, Christopher Palmiter, officially finalized their divorce on Monday.
The hearing, which focused on the legal separation of the couple, marks a somber milestone in the aftermath of a deeply troubling few years for the family.
Christopher Palmiter filed for divorce from Diana Cojocari following the mysterious disappearance of Cojocari’s daughter, Madalina, just before Thanksgiving in 2022.
The couple had been married since January 9, 2016, court documents confirmed.
Palmiter, who had initially been involved in the investigation, was found guilty of failing to report the disappearance of a child. Diana Cojocari also pleaded guilty to the same charge and has since left the United States. Her absence has raised questions, and she has been called a suspect in the ongoing investigation into Madalina’s whereabouts.
Monday’s court hearing focused solely on the divorce. “There were no minor children of the marriage,” according to court documents.
As of 2 p.m. on March 3, 2025, their divorce was finalized.
The search for Madalina continues and the mystery surrounding her case remains unsolved.
