According to reports, at approximately 12:25 p.m., a 52-year-old man was driving a 2012 Chevy pickup northbound on Highway 11 when the vehicle struck Kaholo at the Ali‘i Koa intersection. Several witnesses confirmed that Kaholo had been standing near a stop sign before unexpectedly running into the road and in front of the truck.
Kaholo was found unresponsive at the scene and was subsequently transported to Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at 4:17 p.m. Fortunately, the driver of the 2012 Chevy pickup did not sustain any injuries.
