Colin Monahan Obituary-Death News; Freehold Boro Wrestler, Colin Monahan Passes Away Suddenly
The Freehold Boro Wrestling team is devastated by the passing of Colin Monahan, a cherished member of our wrestling community and a remarkable person who had a lasting impression on the program.
In addition to being a gifted wrestler, Colin, a proud member of the Class of 2015, was an enthusiastic coach who supported both his sport and his community.
Colin’s wrestling prowess and commitment were evident during his tenure at Freehold Boro. He made a lasting impression by winning a District Championship in his senior year and becoming just the sixth wrestler from Freehold Boro to reach the 100-win mark, which places him in an exclusive group of athletes. Both teammates and rivals praised his perseverance and hard work on the mat.
After graduating from high school, Colin pursued his wrestling career at Ursinus College, but he never lost sight of his origins. He helped shape future wrestlers by regularly going back home to instruct the Colonials.
Following graduation, he was a key member of Coach Shep’s coaching staff for the Freehold Boro. Colin was a major contributor to the team’s accomplishments, helping Freehold Boro win its first division title in 2022. That same season, he was voted District Coach of the Year, a testament to his commitment and skill.
Colin, affectionately referred to as “The Leprechaun,” was an unparalleled force of energy and ferocity in the wrestling arena. For the wrestlers he coached, he served as a buddy, mentor, and role model in addition to being a coach. We shall always remember his great influence on the squad and the Freehold Boro community.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Colin’s family and friends, and we sincerely appreciate everything he has contributed. The Freehold Boro Wrestling family will always remember him, even though they will miss him terribly.
