Cocoa Florida Accident, Woman dies in accident on I-95 in Brevard; northbound lanes closed; A woman was killed in a crash Tuesday afternoon in Cocoa, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The accident occurred at 12:47 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 at mile marker 202 in Cocoa. FHP reported that the woman was a passenger in a 1999 Toyota Camry traveling northbound. The driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to run off the roadway, collide with a utility pole, and overturn several times.
Emergency responders transported the woman to Holmes Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. Two other passengers in the vehicle sustained injuries and were also taken to the hospital for treatment.
Fortunately, the driver and a fourth passenger were not injured in the crash, FHP said. The identities of the victims have not yet been released, pending notification of their families.
The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating the incident to determine the cause of the crash. As the investigation continues, more information will be made available to the public.
