Clayton Pierce Obituary, – Fort Collins police officers were called to the scene of a single-vehicle rollover crash near Mountain Avenue and Bryan Avenue. Upon arrival, they encountered a man identified as 42-year-old Clayton Pierce, who was armed with a gun. Pierce proceeded to shoot at the officers, injuring one who has not yet been named. In response, officers fired back, prompting Pierce to flee into Grandview Cemetery.
After a brief exchange of gunfire, a SWAT team arrived and provided medical assistance to Pierce, who later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The injured officer has been discharged from the hospital and is currently recuperating. The incident is now under investigation by the Eighth Judicial Critical Incident Response Team and the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office. Pierce had a lengthy criminal record spanning over two decades, primarily in Larimer County, with convictions ranging from aggressive driving to drug distribution.
