Who was Chop Evans?
Charles “Chop” Evans was a pecan farmer and the president of Evans LLC, the largest pecan operation in Georgia, headquartered in Fort Valley. A graduate of the University of Georgia with both a B.A. and a master’s degree, Evans oversees the cultivation of 7,000 acres of pecan orchards across Peach, Houston, and several other Middle Georgia counties.
His orchards are fully irrigated, which minimizes the need for disease treatments and helps maintain high-quality yields. Thanks to strong demand from Asian markets, both the quality of his crops and the prices he receives for them remain robust.
