Chloe Zernicke, 8th grader at St. Paul passed away in an All-Terrain vehicle accident on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at approximately 8:30 p.m. in the vicinity of Two Creek Rd and Landstad Road. Numerous law enforcement officers and emergency medical service personnel were dispatched to the scene. The initial caller reported that a 13-year-old female was found unconscious and non-respiratory following the collision.
What happened?
At the time of arrival, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was being performed on the Zernicke. First responders from Navarino-Lessor Emergency Medical Services and NEW Ambulance arrived at the location and requested that ThedaStar Helicopter also responded to the incident. Multiple crews worked together to perform life-saving procedures Zernicke. As a result of the injuries that the Chloe Zernicke suffered in the occurrence, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
One onlooker was present at the location and was capable of elucidating to law enforcement the circumstances surrounding this accident. All individuals involved, including Chloe’s parents, cooperated with law enforcement. The Wisconsin DNR is conducting the primary investigation into this collision; no additional information will be released at this time. According to Shawano Sheriff’s Office, they will not disclose any names in order to protect the privacy of all parties involved, including the Zernicke family, as this is an incredibly tragic incident.
Chloe was enrolled as a pupil at the Bonduel Village. The School Resource Officer was informed of this incident and was able to coordinate with all schools in the Village of Bonduel to ensure that all students and staff had access to additional support and services.
