Chew Gernandt Death – It is with great sadness that we must inform you of the passing of Chew Gernandt, a treasured member of the Golden Knights and The Hawthorne Caballeros Alumni Drum Corps. We wish to express our condolences to his family and friends. After suffering a stroke, Chew was admitted to a hospice facility, and he ultimately passed away as a result of his condition. Unfortunately, Chew did not make it through this traumatic experience, despite the hopes and prayers of his loved ones and fellow graduates.
Within both the Golden Knights and the Hawthorne Caballeros communities, Chew Gernandt was a well-liked and respected representative. Because of his devotion to his craft, his enthusiasm for music, and his commitment to his fellow corps members, he became a treasured presence in both organizations. Chew, who was well-known for his friendly demeanor and unflinching dedication, was a significant contributor to the development of the sense of group unity and camaraderie that characterized these organizations.
His family, friends, and fellow corps members have all been left in utter disbelief after hearing the news of Chew’s passing. In the memories of those who had the honor of knowing Chew, he is remembered as a generous and kind-hearted person who always had a smile on his face and a kind word to say to everyone. His contributions to the Golden Knights and The Hawthorne Caballeros went well beyond his musical abilities; he was a guide, a friend, and a source of motivation for a great number of people.
