CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Charlotte woman, Nicole Pizzi, is facing both federal and local charges after allegedly assaulting a flight attendant, an EMT, and a nurse following an incident on a flight from Pittsburgh to Charlotte in 2024.
The events unfolded on June 1, 2024, aboard American Airlines flight 2255. Court documents reveal that Pizzi, who was reportedly intoxicated, became aggressive toward flight staff during the flight. She allegedly struck, kicked, and even spat on a flight attendant.
Upon the flight’s arrival at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport, records state Pizzi was restrained and transferred over to medical personnel to be taken to the hospital.
However, court documents state her behavior continued on the ground. While being transported in an ambulance to the hospital, Pizzi allegedly punched an EMT in the face and violently pulled her out of the medic truck by her hair.
The situation reportedly escalated further once Pizzi reached the hospital. Pizzi is said to have scratched a nurse’s face before being restrained and sedated by hospital staff for her safety, according to court documents.
Pizzi has been charged with multiple offenses. Locally, she faces assault charges related to the EMT and nurse incidents. This week, new federal charges were filed after an investigation revealed that her behavior during the flight interfered with the duties of the flight attendants and assaulted multiple individuals onboard.
In total, Pizzi is facing four counts of assault under federal law. These charges include:
- Interference with flight crew members – Pizzi is accused of assaulting and intimidating the flight attendant during the flight, making it difficult for her to perform her duties.
- Assault by striking, beating, or wounding – Three separate counts involve her physical assaults on the flight attendants and staff members.
Despite being released from the Mecklenburg County Detention Center in June 2024, Pizzi now faces the additional pressure of these federal charges.
