CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police made an illegal firearms and drug trafficking bust this month on N. Davidson Street in the NoDa neighborhood.
CMPD said the operation resulted in two arrests.
It all started with a routine traffic observation. CMPD officers reportedly noticed a parking violation on an unoccupied vehicle, but what they found inside raised concerns.
Upon inspecting the vehicle, CMPD said their officers discovered a handgun magazine and suspected marijuana in the car. Officers were able to locate the driver, who they said had a firearm, nearly a pound of suspected marijuana, and $959 in cash.
CMPD said the driver was arrested on multiple charges, including carrying a concealed gun, possession with intent to sell or distribute (PWISD) marijuana, and felony possession of marijuana. But the investigation didn’t stop there.
CMPD said a second suspect was quickly identified and detained. They said that the second suspect was also carrying a firearm and had about two and a half pounds of suspected marijuana. In addition, unopened bottles of suspected promethazine hydrochloride and $1,403 were found in the suspect’s possession.
This led to additional charges, including carrying a concealed gun, PWISD marijuana, PWISD schedule controlled substance, and felony possession of marijuana.
In total, CMPD officers seized:
- Two firearms
- Approximately 1,522 grams of suspected marijuana
- About 48 fluid ounces of suspected promethazine
- $2,362 in U.S. currency
