CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE) — Charlotte FC continued to dominate at The Bank Saturday, coming off a 2-0 win over FC Cincinnati.
The club took on the San Jose Earthquakes, who are on a losing streak with their latest loss against Colorado Rapids.
Charlotte was without two major players, Patrick Agyemang and Tim Ream, who are on assignment for the U.S. Men’s National Team in Panama for the CONCACAF Nations League semifinal game.
But this did not slow Charlotte down at all.
Just minutes into the match, Charlotte’s Pep Biel sends a left-footed shot right passed San Jose’s goalkeeper and into the net.
Shortly before the end of the first half, midfielders Ashley Westwood and Brandt Bronico had back-to-back goals. Bronico earned himself a yellow card for excessive celebration, but in his defense, there was a lot to be happy about.
The team went into halftime 3-0 against San Jose.
Coming back from the break, it seems each of the starters were eager to score a goal today. Kerwin Vargas scored with an assist from Biel.
Seventy-four minutes into the match, Charlotte’s midfielder Andrew Privett received a red card for denying a goal-scoring opportunity. Due to this, San Jose’s Cristian Arango was able to score the team’s first —and only— goal of the match.
The match ends with Charlotte victorious, 4-1.
The club is leaving The Bank for now and headed to Commerce City to take on Colorado Rapids. The match is set for 4:30 p.m. on March 29.
