Charlie’s roots ran deep in Hammonton, where he was born, raised, and spent his entire life. Graduating from Hammonton High School in 1974, he went on to Rutgers University in Camden, earning a degree in Mathematics in 1978. His educational journey laid the foundation for a successful career with the State of New Jersey, where he began as a programmer and eventually retired as a senior manager in 2018.

A pillar of the community, Charlie was actively involved in youth sports. He served as the assistant director of HYSA, coached and umpired in the Hammonton Little League, and lent his coaching skills to Bulldogs basketball. Additionally, he dedicated several years as a pack leader for the Boy Scouts, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of young scouts.
Charlie’s family was at the center of his world. Devoted to his wife Mary Anne, he supported and actively participated in the pursuits of his sons, Pasquale “Pat,” Dante, and Matthew. As a loving grandfather, he cherished moments with his grandchildren, Kayla, Emma, Collin, Hannah, and Maxwell.
Beyond his professional and community engagements, Charlie was a man of diverse interests and creative spirit. His deep love for music reflected in his appreciation for stimulating and fulfilling tasks. Charlie was particularly drawn to challenging puzzles and games, showcasing his attention to detail and problem-solving skills. He delighted in assembling intricate models and figurines and took pride in designing imaginative games and scavenger hunts for his loved ones.
Charlie’s creative endeavors extended beyond hobbies, as he consistently supported his family and friends in their pursuits. He was a source of inspiration, encouragement, and guidance, ensuring that those around him reached their fullest potential.
The passing of Charlie leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him. To celebrate his life, a visitation is scheduled on Monday, February 12, 2024, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Marinella Funeral Home, 102 N. Third St., Hammonton, NJ 08037. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7:00 PM, providing an opportunity for friends and family to reminisce and honor the impact Charlie had on their lives.
